This is kind of a review.. I have designed a site but not built it yet, and before I do I would like a bit of constructive criticism on on my efforts..

The site is www.beavercastle.co.uk and it has been designed to get traffic from people typing in Belvoir Castle wrongly. The holding page that I have created seems to be getting a steady stream of traffic so I think I will get a fair amount from adsense.. hopefully.

Are there enough ads? are they positioned correctly?

Let me know if it is too small to see and i can upload a bigger pic

Its all right i suppose. Its not too exciting but then you dont want it to be really!

Have you thought about yahoo ads? I know the return is lower but you can hide/style them a lot easier from what ive heard. Adsense isnt an area ive had a lot of experience in to be honest so other will probably be able to advise you better.

Hi Edward,
That's a very nice clean looking site.

You might want to consider the following modifications ...

1. Replace the floral header with something more suitable to the castle theme - or remove it altogether and just leave a narrower text heading.

2. Swap the picture of the castle and the sqaure AdSense block so that they're the other way around. You'll have a better CTR with ads on the LHS or middle of the page above the fold - take a look at the AdSense heatmap for more info on best locations for AdSense placement.

All the best,
Tony

picture is to small for me but I am sure most of what has been covered is what I might see. Why the link to the site but no site?

right... i think i've about finished with the design

http://www.beavercastle.co.uk

what do you think?

this is the first site that i have built and would appreciate some feedback on what could be improved..

i'm thinking about reversing the way round for the pic and the ad sense block.. will this make much of a difference to the CTR?

I think you're thinking way too much about people clicking on the adverts. 4 google ads on one page is a bit extreme, also are you not only supposed to have 3 per page as it states in the adsense guidelines (not sure about that - you'll need to check)?

In the html you have some minor errors:

<div id=footer> should be <div id="footer">

And there are alt texts missing from your images in a couple of places.
