Hi members,

I thought that i'd write a tutorial to assist anyone trying to learn how to make a 3 column layout for their website.

This tutorial:
  • DOES NOT use tables
  • Uses the XHTML STRICT doctype
  • Features full explanations for each section of code.
  • Includes a live demo of the code
  • Includes a downloadable zip file of the code

Might be an idea to stress that for accessibilty (W3C) compliance,
the content also has to comply ... and really needs a
specialist editor/browser for page/content design. These are
usually costly, but AMAYA from W3C site goes a fair way ...
after which you can check with their online accessibility checker
... or LYNX or Bobby etc.

Going through scripts putting in alt tags/descriptions is a pig Grin

Just an observation .....

Two column layout with content on the LHS and
ads/logins whatever on the RHS give the impaired
visitor a lot less confusing crap to wade through.
Top and bottom links bars plus breadcrumbs also a plus
as is a textlink type basic sitemap.

In fact,accessibility and SEO come together quite well
... albeit in a boring vanilla envelope way. Blind people
care even less about eyecandy and graphics than I do  Shocked
