Help!!!

Right here's the scenario.

I have a hosting account with the main domain and about 5 add-on domains added to it. What I want to do is 301 the main domain to another site that's hosted elsewhere - simple? No!

Whenever I do a standard htaccess 301 or header php redirect it's not only the main domain that 301's but all the add-ons/subdomains.

I've searched high and low for a solution but cannot find one.

The only other option I thought of was to change the nameservers to another hosting account - make this domain a subdomain/add-on there - then 301 with a simple htaccess file. But this isn't an option because the domain name in question came with the hosting package and isn't on my godaddy account, so don't have access to change nameservers.

Any solutions appreciated - I'll give anything a try - and it'll benefit TIP (slightly) as it's going to be 301'd here.

Have the add on domains all got separate hosting? or do they point to a single location? We have a reseller account so I setup separate hosting accounts for each domain and 301 to where ever from there. We mainly use windows servers though so the htaccess option isn't an option

You pretty much want to do the only thing that you cant do when dealing with multiple domain hosting which is all in the same hosting account. If you place the htaccess file in the root its going to redirect everything including the sub folders and therefore add on domains.
The only thing I can think of is setup a new hosting account and move all the add ons to that?

The sites in question don't warrant reseller or separate accounts - unfortunately.... I have 6 large accounts plus a reseller with different ip's but still not worth me moving everything about (databases etc..)

Doh!  Embarrassed

If you place the htaccess file in the root its going to redirect everything including the sub folders and therefore add on domains.

That's exactly what's been happening.

Oh well, I'll have to leave it as it is!

Or redirect all pages except the home/root domain page - that's doable... then put a simple html page on the homepage with a huge "Go Here" link. That's probably what I'll do.
