I would hate to live there than. Where I am at I can see the sunrise and the sunset. During the summer months it gets dark around 9-10pm and during the winter months a lot earlier.
The pitch blackness is in the country or is it the same in the cities?
It's the same darkness throughout the country; at least the parts of India that I'm familiar with. I suppose the further north you go, the more light there'd be, but my experience of India has mostly been in the south - Hyderabad and Bangalore. You get used to it but I know what you mean. Those long English summer evenings are something you take for granted when you have them, and suddenly miss them when they're not there. The other side of the coin is that you don't have the chilling cold, damp and darkness of English winters.
