If that phrase gets traffic then yes its good.
I saw someone saying i'm number one in MSN for a really long search phrase that no-one would search for.
What use is that?

What use is that? Long tailed searches can be extremely effective. If only one person searched that phrase, the likelyhood of converting skyrockets. Don't sell them short. Dave

Hi, rumbleup! I think this is great, because I like yahoo more then google. Did you do something specific to reach this position? And how much traffic you have from Yahoo?

Did you do something specific to reach this position? Don't even know what I did. I know that most of my forum sigs have my main search term as my anchor text, I also know that a few of my diggs, duggs, ma.gnolia links work, and of course, some high PR links on some blogs. Google might use no-follow, but I don't think that Yahoo does. If that phrase gets traffic then yes its good.

What use is that? Actually, that's the number 1 search term for my industry. If I could get number 1 on Google, I'm looking at a quarter of a mil summer, or even more. I think I've read somewhere that (and crankydave can confirm or deny this for me) that three word search phrases are the king of the block.

It al depends on which words, which niche, etc.
You can have a lot off visitors for "wintersports" you can have a few visitors for "wintersports Avoriaz"
The first one are people who are orienting themselves. The second are visitors who are looking (and probably booking) a specific holiday.
For 1 thing it could be 2 words, for another it could be 5.

Someone on another forum was boasting about being number one for a search term like: My name is Ashley and if you searched this very long phrase this thread might one day come out number one for this search term........

I wasn't saying your search term was lame. Someone on another forum was boasting about being number one for a search term like: Oh no, I wasn't taking it like that. Just laying down my thoughts on it. Your right, you can come up roses for a multi-word term that is exact in it's nature, like actual text that appears on a page, just like you sited.

In all my years as an seo, I've never been excited about getting a #1 ranking in anything other than Google - stateside, there are no phrases that deliver more traffic from Yahoo or MSN than Google - so, while it's nice, the Captain doesn't make an appearance until the KW is #1 in Google. :?

Well done rumblepup. Lets not forget that Yahoo is the 2nd most popular search engine.
Today Yahoo, tomorrow, the world, the day after, oblivion!!
