I'd have to beg to differ with the MSN results, well UK anyway.....
If I take my highest search visit phrase this month from Google, which has resulted in 115 site visits this month, and search it in MSN... I have 1 page at pos 3 and one at 4 or 5. I rank for more in MSN than Google to be honest and I don't believe that many people use Live Search in the UK.

Frankly it is too much of a coincidence to have helped both Baby and I in 48 hours. So it's a trick worth knowing.

To be conclusive we'd need to test it on a 'clean' new domain.
Any volunteers?

Are you paying for the PPC Campaign? And for setting up a new URL including buying it and hosting it?
You are being a wee bit pedantic Ash - It bloody works.
SEM is trying things that are new - and we both did it and we both got listed.

Off topic sorry but if you get ranking in ASK then 301 to a new domain the ranking will stick for the old domain plus then get ranking for the new domain.. Now thats a cheat for ask p.s. its been some 2-3yrs since I changed url and both rank on ask hehehehe sadly traffic is nothing ahh well ..

I think the real question is if you get listed on ask is it really worth the traffic? I mean how many people actually use ask? I've got a clean domain that's not been posted anywhere yet, i'm launching soonish, like in the next 24 hours. only downside is its my subdomain site. wanna give it a punt or wait until someone has a non-subdomain site to try it on? If i can get 1 lead then its worth a grand to me Darren

I'd say give it a punt on a subdomain, if it's going to be totally isolated from the main domain from a bots point of view.
Ask are that slow that even if it was linked from another domain it may take another month for a visit. :?:
I'm thinking of trying it in a month or so with a non-subdomain I got last week, but at the moment it's live but being worked on, but I've excluded all crawlers/bots and no links anywhere.
As I mentioned before I do things arse-about-face

they offer little in trafic, and in my estimation are very insignificant The thing is customers don't know that

in this case i'm the customer that i'm promoting for so it only makes sense to push ask if the ROI is going to be worth it. Like david said before, a single lead could turn a big return for him, and the same is true for me too. I've got to weight up wether spending time getting into ask will net me one or more leads that covert. for me, i find that unlikely but if/when i get a site that would benefit i'll certainly make use of the trick david uses and see if it returns a good result.

I checked out my site on ask today. I got all kinds of sites linking to me. I just have not found my site on it yet.

I posted in the wrong place...to damn tired to find the thread....but http://www.davidcastle.org/BB/hey-ho-vt3750.htmlI suspect its an age thing...these are ticking off like clockwork now So in keeping with the time line, should get 2 more..the cog and a clients site in a couple of weeks. Then the infosearch in a couple of months and the new one about 5 months after I get it going...looks to be the time frame as mine were all new Domains. Just my observation. Many of these sites are performing very well elsewhere and were ignored by Ask until just recently despite our efforts, links, bookmarks, and ppc. Dazism even tried, and that one is still not indexed. So I reiterate...ASK SUCKS! --Melanie
