I've been experimenting alot more recently with affiliate links, this link / site has been up a couple of days and i logged into see these stats:

No.    Value              Comm.              IMP     CLICKS        CTR
  1   £323.93              £32.39      11   5             20.00%

Makes me wonder why i bother with Adsense at all! I'm hoping for a good christmas this year!

thats awesome but how much traffic does the site you have that on get? and is it likely to be repeated? You could of just had a really flukey click.  That reminds me, my wife used my amazon link to buy something, need to see what i got from it Smiley

Granted it does'nt get much traffic YET! However it is ranking no.2 on Google for  the company that paid the commissions name, so will pick up a little traffic like that!

By the way your not allowed to buy through your own Amazon links.

Nice commision @ 10% ...

Beats amazons 4% ...

Regarding not buying from amazon with your own links and getting commission on what you buy, then what your ment to clear your cookies every day ?

I bought something the other day and got the commission as I always check my links going to amazon...

I've been thinking about doing the same as adsense has very low rates...

Maybe i missed it, but is there a specific affiliate system you have been using?

Thats what their T&C's say.

Also Amazon only pay if a user clicks your ad and then shows an 'intent' to buy or actually buys during that initial visit. If they showed an intent (i guess adding an item to the basket) and then revisit you get commission.

If they just browse and then revisit later and buy you get ZIP!

The joining fee is credited to your account though. So providing you can earn commissions you'll soon get it back.

www.buy.at have recently introduced some form of contextual affiliate ad system that might be worth looking at. Its just a shame they don't have a huge variety of merchants.

I don't like them but they do pay, the only issue i had was them closing an account because i bought through my own links! I'm trying to sort this out, having spoken to the merchant who had no problem with it....

Why do you say CJ are awful? They're my biggest earner at the moment. I've yet to receive a payment yet because I've set the minimum payout amount higher. Are they poor payers or something??

Well like Ash I had my account closed without warning and with money owing for "suspicious activity" this "suspicious activity" turned out to be that a group of people had all ordered the same item on the same link from the same physical location.

The location - UK

Trying to get information out of an account manager was like getting blood out of a mountain (forget stones here) eventually I narrowed down the problem, I had run a big publicity drive for freshers week at several universities and was using their affiliate links for addon sales. Now we were quite successful (as I hope to be next week! when we do it again) which meant lots of students used the university networks to logon and click the links.

Now we are not talking millions of hits in total the campaign got just over a 1000 responses and CJ links may have been clicked 200-300 times
So because people across the uk but clustered together clicked my links my account was closed! out of that 200/300 times I probably lost at least 50 of them since the account was closed very quickly.

It did get sorted out but I have since been wary of doing anything with CJ
