Hi Guys,

Have any of you use this tool to streamline the whole social bookmarking experience???

http://www.socialmarker.com/

if so, is it any good. Is social bookmarking any good for that matter?  Or just time better spent elsewhere?

cheers chaps & chapppessisis

I have stumbled your post Dave, let's see if it attracts a lot of attention.  I noticed that stumble was not included.

I've stumbled aswell..

But this is strange.

There are now 3 different topics/urls for this post in stumble!

*/link-building-resources/social-bookmarking-is-worth-the-time-and-effort?topicseen
*?topic=4586.0
*link-building-resources/social-bookmarking-is-worth-the-time-and-effort/

Maybe all these urls are why new stuff isn't really getting indexed?

Could be, i think the different variations are blocked by robots.txt

If i ever get the time i'll delve into the code and see if i can amend the urls to stop the variations getting created.

Links Dave, Links. Many social bookmarks sites do not have no follow on the links, so if you bookmark the odd page or two of your own you can generate links to your site.

Whether these links have much or any value is another matter.

In my opinion, and mind you it is a novice one the point of social bookmarking is to get traffic from those sites, not to help SEO. When I look up my backlinks, there is nothing from bookmarking sites.

You're obviously using different bookmarking sites then.

Sure places like Digg and Stumbleupon are for traffic, but places like technorati, propellar (netscape) (any of them without nofollow) will build link to your site too.

Heres a little list but there are loads more do-follow bookmark sites: http://www.searchenginejournal.com/social-bookmarking-sites-which-dont-use-nofollow-bookmarks-and-search-engines/5985/

cheers for the info chaps.

I know it's all about links & traffic.  Unfortunately it's not case of bookmarking my own pages but every bugger elses!!!  Then logging the bookmarks and stating where their bookmarks are blah blah blah.  It's all time at the end of the day, hence my 'is it worth all the time'?

I'll just have to wait and see i guess.

As Ash says go for the dofollow sites, a majority of the sites on socialposter / socialmarker are a waste of time

Outsource to India Dave  Grin

Well we've just stopped outsourcing our submissions to india because it was crap and the bulk of it has landed in my lap.  Shocked   So I'm trying to get the best out of my 35 hours a week and focus on building the in links that make a difference.
