I got this interesting link request a few days ago, and thought it might be a good addition to the forum if we started a collection of Link request templates.  I have removed any identifying information, so just replace the all caps words to make the letter more personal.

Does anyone have a template they would like to share?

Dear CUSTOM-CONTENT,

I ran across your site as I was searching for CUSTOM-CONTENT. It's very warm and inviting, and I love the CUSTOM-CONTENT and CUSTOM-CONTENT in the banner.

I own CUSTOM-CONTENT.com and would like to see if there are ways we can work together to benefit both our businesses. I have found that getting ahead on the search engines relies on two factors... 1. lots of well-crafted unique content on your site 2. one way links to your site.

I am willing to supply you with unique content for your website in the form of keyword rich articles written on topics related to YOUR-NICHE. All of your articles will be on interesting topics relating to CUSTOM-CONTENT and of course, will be search engine friendly. These quality articles will help you in your search engine rankings, and will not ever be published on another website. In return for the free articles, I wish the links within the article to remain intact. I will put links (3 to 5) into the article or into the About the Author credits.

If you are interested in getting free content for your site, just let me know and I will go to work writing a few high quality articles exclusively for you.

Yours,

AUTHOR-NAME

That is a good start for a letter. Change a few things around to make it your sites and I bet you will get a lot of responses from it. Nice find.

No.  I don't do this kind of work, but it is not a bad way of getting some backlinks.  This was just an email i got the other day.

I did a bit of research on the guy who sent the email and it looks like he just has one site related to the baby carrier niche I am in.  I really doubt that he is working outside of that niche, but if your niche is close enough to his he might be interested.  pm me and I will send you his email, or better yet I will forward you the original email he sent me.
