Enjoy.

Interesting setup they have. I am not sure if the color scheme they have is very good though. All types of blue.

It caught me in a good mood - it could do well - so I did a pay for, but I have been doing that off late anyway - with US Dollar rate against the pound £17.00 is neither here nor there.

Thanks Ash - but I hated their verification codes

Okay guys, something is up here.

I get two link submissions rejected:

www.forumlettings.co.uk and www.buyingfirsttime.co.uk

Bit annoyed, especially after i recommended the bloody site! I can't understand why when looking at other sites in the directory.

I've emailed the owner but don't expect a reply!  :x

I think that site sucks anyway. Nothing like over-using blue and white! Nothing stands out on the page. Links arent obvious and the categories are too general. The directory it links to is far better - http://www.voisd.com/

Ash, thanks for the original post, a bit of recognition is always appriciated Smiley Unfortunately new directories (especially the free ones) are always prone to a large amount of spam submissions from automated software.

To help solve this problem i've integrated the simple verification code (sorry bout that ctabuk but it serious does cut the spam submissions down quite considerably in the initial weeks), in addition i've added some very, very specific submission guidelines - i am literally being ruthless rejecting submissions (in fact about 50% get rejected based on the incorrect submission information). Obviously feel free to resubmit your sites Ash, ill keep an eye out and ensure/edit your two sites to make sure they get approved - ive also replied to your email that you sent.

As for the design and categories (MuNKy) the directory is very, very new so still has a lot of growth in it and i also wanted to make it stand out from the crowd - hence the unique template. The majority of new directories don't have the financial backing or owner initiative, hence most use completely free, totally over used templates. Needless to say as with everything, some people like it and others don't. Some people don't like Voisd either :p

Currently im taking Unleashed to 1000 active links then ill be implementing paid submissions - and once the next PR update occurs ill probably be selling the directory, although ill see that the earning potential as a paid general directory is like before i officially make that decision...

Hope that clarifies some of the above - and thats my first post here as well.

Cheers Smiley

Thanks for the post, i've resubmitted.

Good luck with the site, and thanks for coming back to me, its much appreciated, and i do like the design, although i was wondering why it had a sponsored by link to the other site (Which it turns out you own too!  Smiley )

What I found difficult was whether the U's were a Y as they appeared at the very base of the code. And I am not the best guy in the world to keep trying, but I did and I'm in.

I like the idea of selling if you get a high Toolbar Pagerank because there are so many gulible souls out there who think that PR is important. But we know different - don't we forum

But there is also an important issue on just how you submit to a Directory - it is essential to get your keywords listed as the site description. So many people waffle over 'We are the Best at this that and the other' - use commas in between your search terms and Directories really do make a difference - regardless of their PR

Apologies, my comments were a bit harsh. I wasnt saying I didnt like the design, i was just thinking there maybe should be another colour introduced to make bits stand out more. I really lilke the Voisd site though, that's the kind of design that I like.  Smiley

I've changed the verification now - its much simplier and only uses numbers as apposed to letters - hopefully that should reduce any problems.

Hmmm - well i must be rather gulible :p cause i think PR is rather important (although not as important as people make out). I think in the case of directories, PR is really, really important because people submit to directories not because of potential traffic but because of the SERPs and PR improvement of having that additional backlink. I think for none directory sites though, quality traffic is more of a consideration than PR.

No offense taken - constructive critisism is always good Smiley

From a SEO point of view the Toolbar PageRank has no SEO value - sorry but just too many people agree with my views on this. Here is the latest

I think the key phrase from that article is:

Quote
It is an indicator of the quality of links you have to your site, but the indicator is old and is not real time - so you need to understand this.

So i take this to mean that a directory for example with a high toolbar PR (Unless its suddenly lost a load of links!) ia an indication of a site with good quality links coming to it.

I don't want another discussion on PR though.
