Hi all,
I am very new to website development so this is really a basic topic about link building. I have read quite a bit on the pros and cons but I do not know the procedures of adding a link.
If I am going to exchange links with someone, do both of us agree to add a section to our scripts so that the person on our site can click on this link and go to our site?
I hope I am being clear on this. I guess I just dont know what to do with a link that I exchange with someone?
Any help on this or point me in the right direction would be great!
Thank

I found this for you, hope it will help you.
Link building is a pretty general term used to describe anything you do to build links to a website. There are two primary reasons to build links; Direct Click-Through Traffic, and Search Engine Optimization (SEO). On this site we are focused on the Search Engine Optimization aspect of link building. While the goal of most search engine optimization campaigns is to build traffic, the goal of SEO based link building is higher rankings.

This is important to keep in mind. There are some links that are good for traffic, there are some good for SEO, and there are some good for both. Links that provide both traffic and a rankings boost in the search engines are obviously great, but it is important to realize that just because a link gets good traffic, it doesnt mean that it is good for SEO.

Well there are few ways to build your back links -

# Directory Submission
# Do Follow Blog Comments
# Signature Links
# Social Bookmarking

Just go with these ones and I am sure you will get enough backlinks.

Best of Luck.
