Does anyone know if the wording on a DMOZ page "Volunteer to edit this category" means there is no present editor? Or is this just on every category?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not overly fussed about being listed, just wondering really.

I was an editor for my niche (well one of them Wink) at one point and it used to display my name at the bottom.  Dmoz requires that you login every few months or they drop you as an editor.  If you get dropped you have to reapply.  I have been dropped twice.  Every time after getting dropped it stopped displaying my username and started displaying the "Volunteer to edit this category."

Cheers Gid, I think that answers my question....

Now how fussy are they over new editors? In your opinion. I would have a vested comercial interest in the category, but as some people know I'm happy giving genuine sites links they deserve.

I just realized I have not been getting post email replies.  Is anyone else getting them?

They are pretty friendly on gaining new editors.  I always found the signup process to be a pain in the arse.  It is well worth it though because the google directory pulls from dmoz, and there is a ton of directories that copy chunks of the google directory.  None of those links are great, but a link is a link and you are guarantied to pick up a few links.  As well I get a few click throughs a month from the google directory.
