I am getting confused with Google

for the keyword emotional freedom technique I am number 4 in google.co.uk and 25 in google.com
For the keyword EFT I am 14 in google.co.uk and not in first 200 for google.com

Why is this?

They run on different datacentres, one targets UK audiences with sites that Google believe are best suited, the other is mainly US.

Its simple mate ... Google.co.uk consider only UK base websites and UK base traffic as well. But Google.com have wide area and cover whole world. This can be one of the reason.

When I search anything related with India in Google.com than I got less relevant results but when we search same thing on Google.co.in we got perfect relevant results as well.

Hi,

In google.co.uk you will find most of results from uk only so your ranking may be up but in google.com the rusults come from all over the world so you have not that kind of ranking which you have in google.co.uk.

There's a useful article here -

http://www.searchenginemarketing.co.uk/blog/sem/uk-specific-seo/ranking-factors-for-googleuk/

- which covers some of the factors that are likely to make Google think your site is more targetted to UK users.

Those google guys are smart cookies.  They have a bunch of algorithms and whatnot in their data centers (or as they say in the UK, "data centres") that specify which are the best results based on where you are searching from.  For example, looking up "chips" in the UK may take you to the same place that looking up "french fries" at google.com would.  If you just keep using good SEO techniques, and get more links from sites in the country you're targeting, you should see improvement.

google.co.uk is country specific while google.com is worldwide. This also means that you have different competitors from this two different domains of google which is very noticeable in your SERP for a specific keywords. Since .co.uk is country specific, it means to say that you're mostly competing to those sites that are based in UK. While .com is world wide, meaning you are competing to anybody who has a site in the whole wide world which made your SERP fall a little bit as compared to .co.uk.

But .com is still tailored to your specific area? Its almost identical as a .co.uk world wide search.

Yes, it is. Though others used to understand domains using .com as a site coming from the US but I think it isn't the main use of a .com domain. US has there own extension ".us"

Just wait til geo-targetting gets better, things will get even more interesting/confusing! Smiley
