Is there a useful free way of submitting my sites to all the better search engines? I have always submitted my sites manually to google, yahoo and msn, but is there a quicker/better way to do it? I would like to submit to some of the other engines also.

No need to submit your site to search engines.

Just start your link building campaign and the bots will come.

Well thats what i always thought, however i recently found out one of my sites, that has substantial inbound links doesnt appear in a whole number of search engines, well at least not in the top 50 results or so, which is a little puzzling as it ranks about 11th in google.

I'm i just worring for no reason?

Submitting to all search engine is waste of time. You will not receive even one visit from some search engine. Google, Yahoo, MSN should be your target search engines.
Its better to add your URL to those search engines. But if you do your link building well search engines will automatically grab you and place you in best position.
After all search engine position is what matters in SEO.
