I'm a www.cubecart.com fan although i don't like the fact that alot of essential mods are only available via 3rd parties and you must pay, and the fact that the damn thing should really be opensource, rather than free to users with copyright notices in the title and footer of each page, without paying $80 for removal....

The most recent experience is a paid software/cart/content mgmt. company called nexternal........wow nice software.

Check them out www nexternal dot com

Ask for a control panel test login.......you will be impressed.

i started with oscommerce, its evil ugly, horrible to mod/reskin and generally pants on a stick although it did us for 2 years...  I'm using cubecart at the moment while i work on other projects.  When i come back to the shop(s) i'll be rolling my own.

I really like zen-cart and use it for my store.  It has a good forum for support.  There are a lot of great mods and in general I am pleased.   They have a pretty good mod for rewriting your urls, but becuase it was an afterthough it could have been done better.

Cubecart - i'm modding my first store now and it's sooo easy to setup your own skin. Added a tax/shipping mod and sef mod. All very cheap really - just charge any expenses to the client Smiley

Atnic was the first I used a very long time ago, wasn't too impressed but it's probably moved on a lot since I used it last.

Then I tried Erol which my boss bought and got me to use, didn't like that either.

I use phpcart.net at the moment, very simple set up. Really do like this as theres no messing with building templates and you just drop the cart code into a basic html page. Not only that but you can really play with the cart forms, probably no good if you want to build a site to pass onto a client with no html exp but if I was selling my own goods I'd definately use it again.

There is one I would like to try though and thats creloaded, basically oscommerce beefed up (also available as a white label version for the admin section).

I think the general consensus is it hasn't

I am skinning and coding a Zen cart project right now..big learning curve but I really like the software.

Any big pointers?  I could definitely use some robots.txt advice, its a bit hard to see the structure well, as it's not live yet.  If you have a minute any suggestions would be awesome!

Running

Zen Cart 1.3.7.1
Database Patch Level: 1.3.7.1
Fresh Install
PHP Version: 4.4.7 (Zend: 1.3.0)
Linux/Apache
Database: MySQL 4.1.22-standard

1.      Authorize.net
2.      Buy safe.com
3.      Cross Sell
4.      Advanced bulk Up-loader
5.      Image handler
6.      Frequently asked questions
7.      Site search enhancement
8.      Advanced user tracking
9.      Super orders
10.   Rss feed

and looking into

Ultimate SEO URLs
