phpBB 3 is wayyy buggy still. I installed it, it ran for 3 days, then wham just blew up. Wouldn't connect to the database, or reinstall.
Back to phpBB 2 I am still running that and have had no problems with it yet. Been about a month or so.

Maybe RC 3.
But I did full package install, it was a new forum. I know another site that as far as I know has not had any problems with the new version besides mine. They have since made an update of the new version. I have not updated my forums yet. So I can not tell you anything about that.

Not bad looking. Did you start the forums from the beginning or did you update it to the new version?

that was a fresh install of phpbb3. to compare i also installed php2.x on www.creativedevon.com/forum to see how it fared. I think 3 is too complex and 2.x is too simple for my needs and i need specific mods on both to get the functionality i need so i'm going down the route of custom forum software from scratch as i really cant be arsed to modify other peoples code that i dont have time to learn how to understand. Well they say you can upgrade from 2 to 3 and everything will be in order. Don't know if others have tried it or not. So I am not sure if it really works.

The upgrade is much better now..a month or so ago when I tried it...was completely manual and didn't set very well........Thankfully I was backed up!
I am hearing good things about 3 now. Not so many mods though. Many of the mods installed here won't work most likely (at least thats what they are saying). I will upgrade soon as they have developed the mods I like for the new version.
