I just wanted to make a request to modify the template for TIP. I would have posted this in the staff room but for some reason it appears to be locked. First of all there are 177 errors on the homepage which need to be fixed. There are also too many keywords which are not all relevant plus the description isnt relevant either. Why dont we go for the number one spot?

Darren, if your volunteering be my guest!
Its not easy to modify a PHPBB2 template though...... even worse on a forum with a few mods........
As for the SEO in terms of keywords, category descriptions can be changed, we've muted it before but no-one has shown any real interest.

OK i've re-optimised the forum so we should now rank better for phrases like 'seo forum' or 'search engine optimisation forum' but still keep our uk rankings.
I've cleaned up almost all of the 176 errors that were on the homepage. There's 26 broken links remaining which are caused by the SEO mod that we have installed. Hopefully i'll work out a way of fixing that!

Right all the main pages fully validate now (man that code was awful!). Only bit that doesnt is Melanie's sig but i've PM'd her about that The links on the forum listings no longer have the arrow image for the 'latest posts'. Now there is a text link that includes the latest posters username. Much better methinks! I've added and configured better bookmarking buttons. The title part works on that too now! So please use them! There is still 117 links on the main page though but I suppose that isnt too bad! I removed the links on the post counts as they weren't doing anything. I also removed the breadcrumb 'seo forum' link from the index page but added a link to he h1 instead. I think thats better, do you lot agree? I'm knackered! I'm off to bed now lol

Great job Darren... I PM'd you back about my sig, it is straight bb code, so I am not sure what these issue is :?
The only bothersome thing I noticed....Is, when posting if you use any formatting tools...IE smilies, code, image, quote...It jumps back up to the top of the post, away from the area you are working on.

We need to find a way to exclude these in the robots text otherwise we'll have alot of duplicate content getting indexed....... Can't think of a quick way, so might have to remove the links....

Those links were there anyway but on a small arrow image. I'll add a nofollow to them and then they wont be a problem

Hmm, i've set the robots text to not index and urls with /post but the latest post links redirect and i can't think of a way to exclude the 'new' urls.

What about if i add : disallow: /post*.html to the robots.txt - would that work?

I've exluded any /post urls but i'm concerned that Google will follow (and index) the redirected URLs like: http://www.davidcastle.org/BB/the-big-question-how-vt4008-10.html#45893I guess we could add nofollow, no index on the links...
